Map it before you build it

The design work that comes before the building work, commissioned on its own or ahead of a build. Two depths, from ₦100,000.

The planning before the building

Most failed projects were never badly built. They were badly specified. Mapping works out what you're making, how it fits together, what it runs on and what it should cost, before anyone writes code.

  • It makes the price fixed. Without a map, any quote is an estimate: padded to cover unknowns, or low and growing later.
  • You keep it, whether or not we build it.
  • It's how serious work is done. The architect's drawings come before the contractor.
  • Where you are nowWhat you have, how it's set up and where it hurts
  • What you needWhat would make it better, in order of what matters
  • Tools and running costsWhat we recommend, why, and what it costs each month
  • How it fits togetherDiagrams of the setup, the enquiry flow, the pages and the key user flow
  • A plan and a pricePhases, milestones and what each one costs
  • Risks and next stepsWhat could go wrong, and what we'd do about it

No build required

A map is a piece of work in its own right, with no obligation to build with us. Clients come to it from four directions.

01Compare

"My quotes don't match."

One developer says ₦150,000, another says ₦2m. Know what it should actually cost, and why.

Leads to a build, with us or not
02Recover

"Our developer is gone."

You're not sure what you have, who holds which logins or how it all connects. Find out.

Often leads to Technical Solutions
03Approve

"The board needs a plan."

A costed technical plan for a budget, investors, a grant or a tender, that people can trust.

Leads to a build once approved
04Grow

"What's our next stage?"

Plan the next step of a platform you already run, from your own numbers rather than guesses.

Leads to an expansion build

Two depths of mapping

The Scope Map is for a decision. The System Blueprint is for a build, and includes everything in the Scope Map. We'll recommend the lightest one that does the job.

For a decision

Scope Map

from₦100,000

3 to 5 days

A clear written report on where you are and what to do next. Plain language first, with the technical detail beneath it, so you can act on it and hand it to anyone.

It covers

  • Where you are now: what you have and how it's set up
  • What you need to make it better
  • Recommended tools, with the reasoning and running costs
  • Diagrams: domain to website, where enquiries go, the page layout and the key user flow
  • A phased plan with milestones
  • What it should cost, the risks to watch and the next steps

A Scope Map for a dental clinic's website and email, with its four diagrams. 5 pages, PDF. The client is fictional.

Which depth do you need?

It depends on what's still unknown. We'll confirm it on the free call.

What's unknownFor exampleDepth
Nothing: the shape and price are publishedA landing page or MVP at ₦300,000 flatNo mapping
The size: a standard shape, of unknown extentA business site: how many pages, features and integrationsScope Map
The shape: new screens, flows or kinds of userA booking platform for parents, tutors and an admin teamSystem Blueprint
The logic: new rules for the software to enforceA custom app with its own data, roles and APIsBlueprint + custom software

Two or more of these usually means a System Blueprint: more than one kind of user seeing different things · a workflow, where something moves through steps · content or prices that change by who or where the visitor is · several integrations exchanging data · dashboards or reporting.

Mapping is its own engagement: paid before the work begins, and never bundled into or deducted from a build price.

From a call to a map, in four steps

Nothing starts until you've accepted a quote.

  1. 1A free 15-minute call

We turn an idea into a shape: what it is, who it serves and what has to be true for it to work.

  2. 2We recommend a depth

The lightest one that will do the job, with a fixed quote for the mapping.

  3. 3The mapping work

Starts on payment: 3 to 5 days for a Scope Map, from 7 working days for a Blueprint.

  4. 4Walkthrough and proposal

We present the map live and attach a firm build proposal. Whether to build, and with whom, is up to you.

Which depth do I need?

We'll recommend one on the free call: the lightest that will do the job. A Scope Map is for a decision. A System Blueprint is for a build, and includes everything in the Scope Map.

Do I have to build with you afterwards?

No. Whether to build, and with whom, is entirely up to you. If you decide against it, the map is still yours to keep and refer to.

Is the mapping fee taken off the build price?

No. Our build prices are already at the minimum, so a deduction would only reappear somewhere else. Mapping is its own engagement, paid before the work begins and invoiced separately, so you pay for it once and can see what you paid for.

Why is mapping paid at all?

Nobody builds a house without paying for the architect's drawings first. Deciding what to build, how and on what tools is the hardest part of any project, and it's what lets us give you a fixed build price instead of an estimate.

What if the build turns out too expensive?

Then you've spent a small amount to know the exact cost, phase by phase, before committing more. You can start with phase one and take the rest when it suits you.

Who owns the map?

You do. As soon as it's paid for, it's fully yours, to build with us or anyone else.

How long does it take?

A Scope Map takes 3 to 5 days. A System Blueprint takes from 7 working days, longer with the custom software clause. Work starts on payment.
